150m investment to double Estonia's battery storage capacity
Renewable energy developer Enery is bringing a 650 MWh battery park complex to the Estonian market. The 150 million investment, to be completed within a year, will double Estonia's total energy storage capacity.
MajandusRenewable energy developer Enery has announced a major push into the Estonian energy market, planning to invest 150 million over the next year to build a battery park complex with a combined capacity of 650 MWh. The project will effectively double Estonia's existing energy storage capacity in a single investment cycle.
The battery park complex represents one of the largest single energy storage investments in Estonian history. By significantly expanding the country's ability to store electricity generated from renewable sources, the project is expected to improve grid stability and support Estonia's broader transition away from fossil fuels.
Enery's move comes at a time when Baltic energy markets are undergoing significant transformation, particularly as the region prepares to disconnect from the Russian-controlled BRELL power ring and synchronise with the Continental European grid in 2025. Increased battery storage capacity is widely seen as a critical component in ensuring a stable and reliable electricity supply during and after that transition.
The investment underscores growing international interest in Estonia's energy sector. With its ambitious renewable energy targets and ongoing infrastructure upgrades, Estonia has become an increasingly attractive destination for large-scale clean energy projects.
