75 years in pharmacy: Sadie Jefferson started work at 15 and now retires
Sadie Jefferson started working at a pharmacy at age 15 in 1951 and has worked there for a full 75 years. Now the time has come for her to retire.
CultureSadie Jefferson has written herself into history, working at the same pharmacy for a full 75 years – starting as a 15-year-old youth in 1951 and now finishing her career as an elderly retiree.
Jefferson stepped through the pharmacy door at a time when the world was entirely different: there were no personal computers, mobile phones, or even much of the medicine we use today. Yet she remained loyal to her workplace through the decades, witnessing countless changes in both medicine and society.
With such a length of service, we are dealing with an extraordinarily rare phenomenon – few people in the world can say they have worked for the same employer for over seven decades. Jefferson's story is an inspiration to many and proof that dedication and love for one's work cannot be replaced.
Now, after 75 years of service, Sadie Jefferson has decided to bid farewell to the pharmacy and rest during the retirement she has earned.
