Two remarkable survivors were found in the rubble in Venezuela-a newborn baby and an 11-year-old boy-after the country was struck by a catastrophic double earthquake on Wednesday, 25 June 2026.

Rescuers are racing against time to find more living people trapped beneath the concrete slabs of collapsed buildings. With each passing hour, the likelihood that those buried under the rubble are still alive diminishes, but two recent finds have given hope to both rescue teams and family members anxiously awaiting news.

A less than one-month-old infant and an 11-year-old boy were brought out of the rubble alive, among the few fortunate ones who survived the devastating force of the earthquake. Both children were immediately taken to hospital to receive medical care.

The double earthquake caused widespread destruction across Venezuela, with numerous buildings collapsing. Rescue efforts are hampered by damaged infrastructure and difficult weather conditions in the region.
