AI Leap First Year: 94% of Teachers Used AI in Their Work

The AI Leap education programme's first year brought artificial intelligence into nearly every Estonian secondary school. At President Alar Karis's invitation, education experts gathered at Kadriorg Ice Cellar to discuss the programme's results and next steps. Over 300 teachers received recognition for their contribution.

Estonia

Artificial intelligence use in Estonian education has begun spreading rapidly: the first academic year of the AI Leap programme showed that 94% of teachers participating in the programme applied AI in their daily work, and 63% of them have consequently redesigned their teaching methods.

Roundtable in Kadriorg

President Alar Karis convened a roundtable today at Kadriorg Ice Cellar to discuss the results of the AI Leap education programme's first year and future development directions. The discussion addressed, among other topics, the programme's possible expansion to vocational schools and reaching primary school teachers.

The AI Leap programme has directed schools to rethink teaching and learning as a whole with the help of artificial intelligence. In the first year, the topic of artificial intelligence was introduced into nearly all Estonian secondary schools, indicating the programme's extensive reach.

Teachers Honoured

Following the roundtable discussion at the Ice Cellar, participants moved to Roosiaia, where recognition was extended to more than 300 teachers across Estonia. They were the ones who helped bring the AI Leap's first academic year to a successful conclusion and addressed the challenges that arose during the programme in their daily work.

Future steps of the programme envisage expanding digital transition in education so that artificial intelligence skills reach vocational and primary school students and their teachers as well.
