Amazon Partners with Swedish EV Truck Startup Einride

Amazon has signed a deal with Sweden-based Einride to supply electric heavy-duty trucks for its logistics operations. The partnership comes as Einride prepares to go public through a merger with blank-check company Legato Merger Corp.

Amazon has entered into an agreement with Einride, a Swedish electric vehicle manufacturer specializing in autonomous and semi-autonomous heavy-duty trucks, to integrate the company's vehicles into its growing fleet operations. The deal represents a significant commitment by the e-commerce giant to expand its electric vehicle infrastructure and reduce carbon emissions across its logistics network.

Einride has developed innovative electric truck technology designed for long-haul and regional distribution operations. The partnership with Amazon, one of the world's largest logistics operators, validates the commercial viability of Einride's zero-emission vehicle platform and provides the startup with a major enterprise customer.

The timing of this announcement is significant as Einride is in the final stages of completing a merger with Legato Merger Corp., a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC). This merger will enable Einride to go public and access capital markets, providing additional resources to scale production and meet growing demand from major logistics providers.

Amazon has been progressively increasing its commitment to electric vehicle adoption, pledging to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.
