Baltic Pride in Tallinn: Institutional support for the parade remains modest

Around 25 groups have registered for the Baltic Pride parade in Tallinn this Saturday, including representatives from ministries, MPs, and Tartu University. In international comparison, however, institutional participation in Estonia remains modest.

This Saturday, the Baltic Pride parade will take place in Tallinn, with approximately 25 different groups registered to participate. The participants include representatives from ministries, members of parliament, several organisations, and Tartu University.

While the number of registered groups points to growing institutional support, Estonia's participation remains modest in an international context. In many Western European countries, public support from government institutions and major companies for Pride events is considerably more extensive.

Baltic Pride is an annual event that alternates between Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, with the aim of raising awareness of LGBTQ+ community rights and promoting inclusion in society. The parade in Tallinn brings to the streets people from diverse backgrounds and beliefs who wish to show solidarity and support.
