Birthday Boy Mihkels Finishes Fifth in Rome on Final Stage of Giro d'Italia

The Italian Grand Tour, Giro d'Italia, concluded in Rome, where Jonathan Milan of Lidl-Trek triumphed in the final stage sprint finish. Estonian Madis Mihkels (EF Education EasyPost) celebrated his 23rd birthday today and delivered an impressive result, finishing fifth.

For Mihkels, this was a remarkable performance – to complete a Grand Tour on his birthday with a top-five finish in a sprint is a rare achievement. The Estonian has developed rapidly in recent seasons as a sprinter capable of competing with the world's best finishers.

Significant attention also fell on Jonas Vingegaard of Team Visma | Lease a Bike, who etched his name permanently in cycling history at the Giro d'Italia. The Dane became the eighth man in history to win all three Grand Tours – the Giro d'Italia, Tour de France, and Vuelta a España.
