Brazilian metal band Cavalera shook up Tallinn's Helitehas

On 26 June, brothers Max and Iggor Cavalera took the stage at Tallinn's Helitehas. The two are founding members of legendary Brazilian metal band Sepultura. The centrepiece of the concert was Sepultura's 1993 album "Chaos A.D.", whose iconic tracks rang out once again in full force.

Culture

Tallinn's Helitehas hosted on 26 June 2026 one of heavy metal's biggest names, the band Cavalera, made up of brothers Max Cavalera and Iggor Cavalera, founding members of the legendary Brazilian metal band Sepultura.

In Sepultura's early years, Max was the band's vocalist and guitarist, while Iggor was the drummer. Both brothers' influence on the history of metal music has been undeniable; Sepultura shaped significantly in the late 1980s and 1990s what we today know as thrash and groove metal. Now these musician brothers are bringing this legacy back to the stage under their own name.

"Chaos A.D." in full glory

The centrepiece of the Tallinn concert was Sepultura's fifth studio album "Chaos A.D.", released in 1993 and which permanently changed the sound of 1990s metal music. The immortal tracks from the album, "Refuse/ResistTerritorySlave New World" and "Propaganda", sounded as fierce and menacing on the Helitehas stage as they did upon release over thirty years ago.

"Chaos A.D." is an album that brought metal's political and social message to the fore more directly than ever before, blending heavy riff structures with South American rhythmic elements and tribal percussion. Its influence extends to the present day.

Helitehas as a mecca for metal music

Helitehas has become one of Tallinn's most important concert venues for fans of heavier music, regularly hosting international artists. The Cavalera concert continued this tradition, offering Estonian metal fans a unique opportunity to experience first-hand one of the genre's most influential legacies.
