Clever trick cools down a hot car interior in seconds
During summer, car interior temperatures can become unbearably high. According to experts, turning the air conditioning to full blast is neither the most effective nor the most fuel-efficient solution. There is a simpler and faster trick for cooling down a car interior.
TechnologyDuring heat waves, a car interior quickly becomes an uncomfortably hot, cramped sauna. Many drivers get into their car, start the engine, and immediately turn the air conditioning to full power, but experts warn that this is far from the most effective or economical way to cool a car.
Why air conditioning alone isn't enough
The problem is that the hot air that has accumulated in a car sitting in the sun must first escape. If the air conditioning operates in a sealed cabin where the temperature may be 60-70 degrees, it takes significantly longer and consumes much more fuel before a comfortable temperature is reached for the passengers.
The trick for fast cooling
Expert advice is straightforward: before turning on the air conditioning, open all windows and doors and let the hot air flow out. If the car is moving, wind flow accelerates the removal of heat from the cabin even further. Only once most of the hot air has escaped should you close the windows and turn on the air conditioning.
This method cools the cabin significantly faster and also saves fuel, since the air conditioning doesn't have to work against overheated air. A simple but effective trick worth remembering on the next hot summer days.
