Cold-weather solution: stuffed grilling sausages with oven sauce

When the weather doesn't favour outdoor grilling, grilling sausages can be turned into a tasty oven dish. The sausages are filled with a mixture of fresh cheese, grated cheese, cucumber salad and mustard, then baked in a creamy sauce. The dish is ready in approximately 20-25 minutes in the oven.

Culture

Summer grilling sausages are available in shops, but rainy and cooler weather doesn't always entice us to light up an outdoor grill. For such occasions, a simple oven dish works wonderfully, where sausages get a tasty filling and cook together with a creamy sauce.

Preparing the sausages

A deep lengthwise slit should be made into each sausage, deep enough for the filling to fit well, but the sausage should not be cut all the way through. The prepared sausages are placed in a baking dish and wait for the filling.

Filling and sauce

The filling is made by mixing fresh cheese, grated cheese, cucumber salad and mustard. Fresh herbs are added to the mixture along with pepper. The filling is spooned into the sausages so that a small mound remains on top. If desired, a few chilli flakes can be added.

The sauce is made by combining two types of cream and chilli sauce, seasoned with salt and pepper. The finished sauce is poured into the baking dish between the sausages.

Baking and serving

The dish is baked in a 200-degree oven for 20-25 minutes. Fresh salad, cooked pasta or potatoes work well as side dishes, depending on individual taste. The dish should be eaten immediately after taking it out of the oven.
