Director Kaili Viidas: How to Conjure Three Dishes from an Empty Fridge

Salme Reegi Children's Theatre award-winning director Kaili Viidas faces a busy summer ahead, with two new productions, "amletH" and "RAIM", coming to the stage in Pärnu, and a summer production "Tikutoos" in Rakvere. It turns out that the same creativity she brings to the stage shines through in the kitchen as well.

Culture

Director Kaili Viidas knows well what improvisation means, both on stage and in the kitchen. The Salme Reegi Children's Theatre award laureate admits that an empty fridge doesn't stress her out but rather sparks creative excitement.

This summer, Viidas has her hands full: in Pärnu, two new productions, "amletH" and "RAIM", will reach theatre audiences, while at the Köster-Gööcki house in Rakvere, the Rakvere Theatre's summer production "Tikutoos" will take the stage. Three productions in one summer speaks for itself.

But beyond theatre, Viidas is sharing her kitchen tips this time around. According to her, there's no need for special planning or an exotic-filled pantry, what matters is what you have on hand and a bit of imagination. Just as on stage where things often come together through experimentation, her kitchen recipes are born from momentary inspiration.
