DJ Rauno Märks Surprises at Retrobest: Won't Play a Single Estonian Song

Retro FM host and DJ Rauno Märks performed at this year's Retrobest wearing a bright yellow M&M's shirt brought from Berlin, and made an unexpected decision to exclude all Estonian-language hits from his DJ set. According to the experienced DJ, Estonian audiences certainly love domestic songs, but this time he wanted to surprise his listeners.

Retrobest's stage is a familiar place for DJ Rauno Märks (51), and the Retro FM host has enlivened the festival's evening sets many times before. But this year, in 2026, the experienced DJ decided to do things differently.

Märks arrived at the festival in a bright yellow M&M's shirt he had bought in Berlin and prepared for another evening DJ set. This time, however, he had a surprise in store: despite his years of experience, he decided to forego domestic hits, which are usually guaranteed crowd favourites for Estonian festival audiences.

"I'm not playing a single Estonian song today," Märks admitted with a smile, adding that his goal was to surprise the Estonian public.
