EstoniaThe National Electoral Commission rejected on Tuesday, 30 June, an appeal by Jaan Toots, in which the Centre Party deputy chair and Narva mayor challenged a decision by the Narva City Electoral Commission.
The Narva City Electoral Commission had previously refused to consider Toots's request to suspend his municipal council mandate after his election as mayor. Toots then appealed to the National Electoral Commission, hoping to find a resolution at a higher level.
However, the National Electoral Commission found no grounds to overturn the Narva local commission's decision and rejected Toots's appeal. This means the Narva City Electoral Commission's position stands.
