On Wednesday, 10 June 2026, Estonian Railways and Elron participate in the Rescue Board's nationwide alert system test, conducting a joint operational exercise on East and South Estonia rail lines. This is the first such exercise in which a drone threat scenario is tested on trains carrying actual passengers.

During the exercise, train operations suspension will be practised and procedures for how passengers should behave and take shelter in case of a possible drone threat will be simulated. The drill provides both railway personnel and passengers with practical experience of the procedures necessary for managing crisis situations.

The Rescue Board's nationwide alert system test takes place simultaneously across multiple sectors throughout Estonia, but the inclusion of rail traffic makes this year's test more comprehensive than previous ones. The cooperation between Elron and Estonian Railways aims to ensure that train personnel can act quickly and correctly in case of a drone threat and safely guide passengers.
