EOK presidential candidate Teigamägi calls for transparent funding system

Erich Teigamägi, candidate for the presidency of the Estonian Olympic Committee, has emphasised the need for a fair and transparent system for distributing state funding for elite sports. He argues the EOK's role as the government's expert body on sports funding demands the highest standards of integrity.

Erich Teigamägi, who is running for the presidency of the Estonian Olympic Committee (EOK), has made transparency in sports funding a central pillar of his campaign. Speaking about the EOK's role as the state's expert body responsible for allocating funding toward elite and achievement sports, Teigamägi stressed that the distribution system must be as honest and transparent as possible.

The EOK occupies a critical position in Estonian sports governance, advising on and overseeing how public money is directed toward top-level athletes and sporting organisations. Teigamägi believes this responsibility carries with it an obligation to ensure that every decision can withstand public scrutiny.

According to the presidential candidate, a fair system is not only about the outcomes of funding decisions, but also about the processes that lead to them. He has indicated that, if elected, he would prioritise reforms that make the criteria and procedures for distributing sports funding clearer and more accountable to both athletes and the general public.
