Estonia to host 2027 IIHF World Championship Division I Group A in Tallinn
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has awarded Estonia the right to host the 2027 Men's World Championship Division I Group A tournament. The event will take place at Tallinn's Tondiraba Ice Arena, with Estonia competing against Great Britain, Italy, Poland, France, and Lithuania.
SportEstonia has secured the right to host a major international ice hockey tournament, with the IIHF announcing on Friday, May 29, that the 2027 Men's World Championship Division I Group A will take place in Tallinn.
The tournament will be held at the Tondiraba Ice Arena, the Estonian capital's premier ice sports venue. Alongside the host nation Estonia, the competition will feature five other national teams: Great Britain, Italy, Poland, France, and Lithuania.
The Division I Group A tier sits just one step below the IIHF World Championship's top division, making it a highly competitive and prestigious event. For Estonia, hosting the tournament represents a significant opportunity to showcase both its ice hockey development and its capacity to stage international sporting events at the highest level.
