Estonian TV people on summer break: cottages, islands and silence from the noise
Summer is a special time for television professionals – the broadcast season ends, programmes become more relaxed, and a rare opportunity opens to rest. Some head to the seaside, others to their cottages, while some cannot let go of work even in summer.
CultureSummer holds special significance for Estonian television professionals. The broadcast season comes to an end, programmes become more leisurely, and the people working behind the cameras get a rare chance to breathe, slow down and focus on things that get left behind during weekdays.
Some TV producers plan to spend the summer by the sea, others prefer the quiet life of a cottage, where they can tend their garden and enjoy summer relaxation in full measure. Some intend to reach the islands, far away from people and information overload, to truly disconnect from the daily rush.
Yet there are those in the television world who cannot fully abandon work even during their summer break. Creative projects, development of new ideas and personal endeavours refuse to be left out of the daily schedule. For them, summer is rather a time when they can focus on work for which there simply is not enough time in winter.
What unites everyone is the desire to rest from information overload – the endless news feed, social media and screens that television professionals spend their working lives with. The aim of summer is to be more present – with family, in nature, with oneself.
