From Viljandi to the World Stage: Laura Pakasaar Becomes Jason Derulo's Backup Dancer

Laura Pakasaar, a dancer from Viljandi now living in Los Angeles, has been selected to join the backup dance crew of global pop star Jason Derulo. Pakasaar described it as one of the biggest dream-fulfilling moments of her career and shared her emotions on social media.

Culture

Laura Pakasaar, a professional dancer from Viljandi now based in Los Angeles, has taken a major step on the international dance stage by being selected to join pop star Jason Derulo's backup dancers.

Pakasaar shared the news on social media, writing that "little me is screaming" with joy, and called it one of the biggest career milestones of her life. "I am so grateful for this opportunity!" she added. She also sent greetings to all dancers working abroad "who never stop fighting for their dreams."

A long road to the top

Pakasaar's experience on the international stage is impressive. She has participated in creating music videos and large-scale stage productions, working both as a dancer and as a member of choreography teams. Her previous collaborators include such names as Nike, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Adam Lambert, Carin León, and Tito Double P.

Joining Jason Derulo's team adds another significant international collaboration to her already remarkable portfolio, bringing Viljandi's name to major stages around the world.

Estonia-Derulo connection grows

Interestingly, Laura Pakasaar is not the first Estonian to have worked closely with Jason Derulo. Estonian artist Rozell, whose real name is Hans Noormets, has been a warm-up act for Derulo's European tour and has emphasized that on major star tours, one must earn one's place on stage through hard work.

Pakasaar's success reflects a broader trend: Estonian dancers and musicians are increasingly reaching international stages, where competition is fierce, but doors open for those who don't give up.
