Ingrid Veidenberg on Taagepera Castle: "I'm Simply a Castle Mistress"

Ingrid Veidenberg, long-time editor-in-chief of Kroonika magazine, currently lives in Taagepera Castle in Valga County, where the Wagenkülli castle spa operates. In an interview with Õhtuleht, she discusses life in a castle and the myth of wealth in Estonia.

Ingrid Veidenberg, who has led Kroonika magazine for years, calls herself simply a castle mistress today. She lives and works in Taagepera Castle in Valga County, where the Wagenkülli castle spa operates-a place that combines historic architecture with modern wellness facilities.

When visiting Õhtuleht's programme "Kerge Investigates Life," Veidenberg received journalists in this manor house, sharing thoughts on both castle living and the true nature of wealth in Estonia.

"What is so very wealthy and glamorous in Estonia anyway? Everyone has to work hard. Those who have a bit more than others, they also have to work hard and worry about maintaining it all, about life going on. In my view, they have more stress and problems than someone who has nothing," Veidenberg said.

According to her, the equation between wealth and worry is often the reverse of what people imagine-more possessions frequently means more responsibility and concern about preserving them.
