Culture

Middle East expert Nikita Smagin has narrated the audiobook version of his acclaimed work "Vsem Iran", published by Meduza Publishing. The book is one of the most renowned Russian-language studies of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The book that vanished from Russia

The book was first published in 2024 by Individuum publishing house, but the following year Russia's Justice Ministry designated the author a "foreign agent", and "Vsem Iran" disappeared from Russian bookstores. In 2026, Meduza Publishing released an updated version of the book.

In the work, Smagin discusses Iranian society broadly: from economics and politics to everyday life and entertainment. The author debunks common myths, such as the idea that Iran and Russia are close allies and that Iran is truly hostile towards the US. He also addresses questions about whether alcohol is really prohibited in the country and what Iranians know about contemporary music.

Three formats for readers

The book is now available in three formats: print, e-book (epub), and audiobook. The audio version can be listened to as mp3 files, with each chapter as a separate file, and is also available in m4b format for Apple devices.

The book's release coincides with the end of the military conflict between the US and Iran, which lasted nearly four months.
