Journalist Johannes Tralla discovers kitesurfing: wife gave him a course as a gift

Estonian journalist Johannes Tralla (41) has found an exciting new hobby in kitesurfing. He recommends anyone who wants to start should definitely work with a qualified instructor, as this is not a sport to try on your own.

Estonian journalist Johannes Tralla (41) has joined the growing community of kitesurfers and shares how this exciting sport has captured his imagination.

"It's good for mental health to have hobbies for every kind of weather. I enjoy hiking and playing volleyball, for example, but neither is much fun in strong winds," explains Tralla. He adds that watching surfers on the beach sparked the idea to try it himself, while others were wrapping up warm, they seemed to be having quite a lot of fun.

His wife played an important role in getting him into kitesurfing. "She noticed my fascination with the sport and gave me a course as a gift," says Tralla.

However, he cautions that kitesurfing is not a hobby you should start by experimenting on your own. "I spent about ten sessions at the beach fumbling around before I actually started riding properly. You should definitely take a beginner course with a qualified instructor," the journalist recommends.
