CultureKäsmu village will transform into an international centre for Estonian literature in early June when approximately 50 Estonian literature translators from 16 different countries gather there from 8–13 June.
This major event, taking place for the first time in over four years, is a rare opportunity for translators to meet Estonian writers directly. Around a dozen of Estonia's most renowned writers are expected to participate, allowing them to discuss linguistic nuances, cultural context, and the subtleties contained within literary works.
Käsmu is a cultural venue with a long-standing tradition, where such meetings are particularly meaningful – the small coastal village in Lahemaa National Park provides a peaceful environment for creative dialogue. The dissemination of Estonian literature to readers worldwide depends greatly on the skills and dedication of translators, making such gatherings crucial for the spread of Estonian culture.
