Kõlvart: New government cannot fix Estonia's crises within a year

Speaking on the current political situation in Estonia, Kõlvart stressed that making unfounded commitments about rapid economic growth or higher welfare benefits would be misleading and irresponsible.

Kõlvart acknowledged that Estonia is in need of fundamental and far-reaching reforms, but argued that voters must be given a realistic picture of how long meaningful change actually takes. According to him, generating inflated expectations — as though a newly formed government could undo years of accumulated crises within a single year — risks damaging public trust even further.

The Keskerakond leader's comments come amid growing public frustration over Estonia's economic difficulties and the performance of successive governing coalitions. Kõlvart's remarks appear aimed at positioning his party as a sober, credible alternative ahead of future electoral contests, distinguishing Keskerakond from rivals who he implies are offering voters unrealistic quick fixes.
