Legendary Aalto Vase Gets 7-Meter Aluminum Pavilion as 90th Birthday Gift in Copenhagen

Finnish design brand Iittala and aluminum manufacturer Hydro celebrated the iconic Aalto Vase's 90th birthday with a giant pavilion at the Copenhagen Design Festival 3daysofdesign. The seven-meter-tall monument is made from low-carbon aluminum and reflects designer Alvar Aalto's famous undulating contours.

The Copenhagen Design Festival 3daysofdesign unveiled an extraordinary installation created through a collaboration between Finnish design brand Iittala and aluminum manufacturer Hydro-a seven-meter-tall pavilion dedicated to the 90th birthday of one of the world's most iconic design objects, the Aalto Vase.

The pavilion echoes the organic, wavy silhouette of the iconic vase created by Alvar Aalto and is constructed from low-carbon aluminum. It serves as a tribute to both design and environmental consciousness; the choice of material is no accident, as Hydro specializes in sustainable aluminum production.
