SportOn the Agueda cross track in Portugal, another European motocross championship stage took place this past weekend, where Estonian Leok brothers brought honour to their nation.
Sebastian Leok in EMX250 Class
The EMX250 class featured the eighth round of the season. Sebastian Leok showed good form already in qualifying, posting a time of 1:49.260, which secured him eighth on the grid. Spaniard Francisco Garcia claimed the top qualifying time with 1:46.795, a rider who has absolutely dominated the class this season.
Sebastian finished eighth in both races. In the first race, he used the inside line well at the start, held his position and although he had several opportunities to overtake riders ahead, he did not make the pass. In the second race, Leok climbed to sixth place by the fourth lap, but towards the end of the race, Cannon and Skovbjerg, who are higher in the series standings, passed him. In the stage summary, Sebastian earned 26 points and eighth place. In the overall championship standings, he now sits 15th with 94 points. Garcia leads the series comfortably with 352 points.
Lucas Leok Showed Strong Second Race
In the EMX125 class, both Lucas and Travis Leok started. Lucas posted the fifth best lap time in qualifying (1:54.716) among 48 riders, but he had poor starts in both races. In the first race, he finished 18th.
In the second race, Lucas had a completely different pace, climbing to 14th place already on the first lap and continuing to move forward steadily. Towards the end of the race, he was among the fastest on track and managed to climb to sixth place. "In qualifying I had a very good lap, I was fifth and that helped me get a great starting position. In the second start the tyre went off the rim a bit, but I managed to kind of sort it out. I started 18th and made a lot of passes and finished sixth. I'm very happy with the second race," said Lucas Leok.
In the stage summary, Lucas earned 18 points and 12th place. Travis Leok finished both races just outside the points and finished the stage in 25th place. In the overall championship standings, Lucas Leok is ninth with 130 points, Travis Leok is 37th with eight points. The EMX125 series leader remains Austrian rider Moritz Ernecker with 288 points.
