Luunja Secondary School Staff Accuse New Principal of Intimidation Tactics
Luunja Secondary School has found itself in conflict after Ave Kikas, who took up the position of principal in August last year, has been accused by staff of using intimidation tactics. Already last autumn, the school community was convinced that Kikas was unsuitable to lead the school, and staff have repeatedly turned to the municipality for assistance.
EstoniaLuunja Secondary School near Tartu has found itself in a difficult situation following the appointment of Ave Kikas as principal in August last year. Kikas previously worked as head of studies at Poska Gymnasium and as principal of Mooste School.
According to school staff, the severity of the problems became apparent during the first autumn semester. The school community unanimously concluded that the new principal was unsuitable to lead Luunja Secondary School, and staff have therefore repeatedly appealed to Luunja Municipality to find a solution to the situation.
Staff have accused Ave Kikas of using intimidation tactics in school management. Such accusations are serious and point to tension that has developed in the administration and among teachers.
