Estonian MEP Jaak Madison launched a sharp attack on Kaja Kallas, Spain, and Germany during a European Parliament drone debate in Strasbourg, declaring European unity to be mere lip service. The debate centred on drones that had entered and detonated on EU territory.
PoliticsDuring a drone debate in the European Parliament in Strasbourg, Estonian MEP Jaak Madison struck a harsh tone, directing his criticism squarely at Kaja Kallas, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs. The debate addressed drones that had entered EU territory and detonated there, as well as related security concerns.
Madison rushed into the chamber breathless to reach the podium, where he used his brief one-and-a-half minutes to deliver a pointed message. He accused Kallas, Spain, and Germany of hypocrisy and declared that European unity is nothing but empty talk.
"We both know that European unity is a fairy tale," Madison told Kallas directly in his statement, emphasising that the genuine readiness of member states to act together falls short.
Spain and Germany came under fire from Madison over their weak commitment to the EU's common security policy. Madison suggested that the rhetoric in Brussels does not match reality at the level of member states.
