Reflecting on his performance, Mihkels expressed confidence in his own abilities while acknowledging the role team support plays at the highest level. «I believe that with a better team, I am capable of more,» the Estonian said after the final stage.
The Giro d'Italia is one of cycling's three Grand Tours, alongside the Tour de France and Vuelta a España. A top-five stage finish and five top-ten results on debut marks a strong introduction to that level of competition for the young Estonian.
