Energy and Environment Minister Andres Sutt (Reform Party) spoke about the climate-resilient economy law that has reached the Riigikogu on the Kuku radio programme "Sihik" and explained why it is a necessary step for Estonia.

Sutt emphasised that this is not about imposing new obligations, but rather about setting targets and creating the framework needed to achieve them. The minister described the law as a purely rational economic choice rather than an ideological decision.

The climate-resilient economy law is one of the most significant environmental policy initiatives to reach the Estonian parliament in recent years. It is intended to direct the country's economic development in line with climate targets, taking into account both the European Union's obligations and Estonia's long-term economic interests.
