Narva to expand cycling and pedestrian network in historic city centre

Narva is among 22 Estonian municipalities set to receive funding for new cycling and pedestrian infrastructure. The Estonian state and EU Cohesion Fund will jointly provide 7.27 million to build and upgrade 33 kilometres of paths across the country. Narva's share will target development in the city's historic district.

Narva has been included in a national programme that will see 22 Estonian municipalities share 7.27 million in funding from the Estonian state and the European Union Cohesion Fund to construct and renovate cycling and pedestrian paths.

The combined investment will result in 33 kilometres of new or upgraded infrastructure spread across the country. Narva's project is focused specifically on the city's historic quarter, continuing the city's broader efforts to build out a cohesive non-motorised transport network.

The initiative reflects growing momentum across Estonia to invest in sustainable urban mobility, with both central government backing and EU structural support providing the financial foundation for municipalities to move forward with long-delayed infrastructure plans.
