Parliament to Hold Marathon Session Before Summer Recess
Parliament will debate extensive bills on Wednesday, and the session may run into the night. If the agenda is not completed by Wednesday, Parliament Speaker Lauri Hussar has scheduled a backup session for Sunday at 1 p.m.
PoliticsParliament will hold a marathon session on Wednesday with numerous substantial bills on the agenda. The working day is likely to extend well into the night to ensure all important matters are processed before the summer recess.
If the agenda items cannot be completed on Wednesday, Parliament Speaker Lauri Hussar has arranged a backup session for Sunday, 15 June at 1 p.m. as a precaution. The backup session will continue until the entire agenda is debated, but no later than 9 a.m. on 15 June.
This is a typical pre-summer sprint in which parliamentarians attempt to accomplish as much legislative work as possible before the long holiday break. Such extended sessions are standard practice in Parliament, particularly before summer and Christmas recesses.
