Photographer captures rare sight of four bears in Alutaguse clearing

Estonian wildlife photographer Aivo Oblikas captured extraordinary footage of bears in Alutaguse last weekend. The photographer noted that while he has photographed bears many times before, capturing three at once in a single frame was a truly special experience.

Wildlife photographer Aivo Oblikas had an unforgettable experience last weekend in Alutaguse, eastern Estonia, when he managed to photograph a rare gathering of bears in an open clearing — capturing as many as four of the animals at once.

«When four bears are strolling in front of the camera, it takes your breath away for a moment!» Oblikas described the encounter. The experienced nature photographer said he has visited bear-watching sites on numerous occasions, but this particular outing stood out from the rest.

«I have gone to photograph bears many times, but this time was special because I managed to capture three of them at once,» Oblikas explained, noting that getting multiple bears in the same frame simultaneously is an exceptionally rare opportunity even for seasoned wildlife photographers.

Alutaguse, located in Ida-Virumaa in northeastern Estonia, is known for its dense forests and rich wildlife, making it one of the best regions in the country for observing large mammals such as bears, lynx, and wolves. Estonia is home to one of the healthiest brown bear populations in the European Union.
