Power restrictions imposed in Sevastopol following Ukrainian drone attack
Russian-annexed Sevastopol authorities imposed temporary power supply restrictions on 25 June to prevent grid overload and cascading failures across the energy system. The restrictions came one day after Ukrainian drones attacked the city's main electrical substation. Sevastopol's Russian-appointed head Mikhail Razvozhaev urged residents to reduce grid load and refrain from using high-power electrical appliances.
PoliticsTemporary power supply restrictions were imposed in Russian-annexed Sevastopol on 25 June 2026, announced Russian-appointed mayor Mikhail Razvozhaev. According to him, power cuts would take place in a targeted and demand-based manner, though a precise hourly schedule had not yet been established.
Razvozhaev explained that power grids outside Sevastopol are overloaded, and the restrictions aim to prevent failures from spreading across the peninsula's energy system. "Please try to reduce grid load where possible right now and do not use high-power electrical appliances," Razvozhaev appealed to residents.
Ukrainian drones hit main substation
The power restrictions came one day after Ukrainian drones attacked Sevastopol's main electrical substation on 24 June. As a result of the attack, several city districts lost power during the day. Razvozhaev announced in the early hours of 25 June that power supply had been restored, but he declared temporary restrictions that same morning due to grid overload.
Widespread problems in Crimea
Sevastopol's energy problems are part of a broader situation in Crimea. Ukrainian armed forces reported destroying one of three bridges connecting the Crimean peninsula to mainland Russia. In addition to power cuts, the peninsula is also experiencing fuel shortages.
