Producer Suviste: my daughter grew up with the "Revenge Bureau" series

Producer Raivo Suviste told Vikerradio that the "Revenge Bureau" series evolved into a children's show over the years, including for his own 22-year-old daughter. Suviste cited economic sustainability as the main reason for ending the series.

"Revenge Bureau" producer Raivo Suviste admitted on Vikerradio that the announcement of the series' end has brought countless touching letters from viewers, and the public's attachment to the series has repeatedly surprised him.

"This is the third time I'm amazed at how much this series matters to people," Suviste said to hosts Kirke Ert and Taavi Libe. The first major shock came when the character Marion was left behind a door and shot; the next day, there was widespread panic about whether Marion had actually died. The second surprise hit the producer at a fan event at Tallinn's Kaubamaja shopping centre, where lead actors Marika Vaarik and Elina Pähklimägi said they feared being physically overwhelmed by the crowd.

Suviste recalled that the series grew out of an experiment: after ETV dropped the series "Dangerous Flight," they decided to try something new and initially produced only four pilot episodes. "The series took off immediately," he noted.

The producer emphasized that without screenwriter Mihkel Ulman the series would never have been made, and praised director Ain Pross's role as his right hand.

A personal dimension is added by the fact that Suviste's own daughter, now 22, grew up with the series. "Sometimes she would tap me on the shoulder and say, listen, the series is getting too soft," the producer laughed. According to him, the series became in a sense a children's programme, which also set content limitations for the creators.

As the main reason for ending the series, Suviste pointed to economic reality: production is no longer sustainable with the existing budget.
