RIA: May was more cyber-dangerous in Estonia than at any point in the past six months

The State Information System Authority (RIA) recorded 1,561 cyber incidents with consequences in May, the highest figure in the past six months. This indicates that the level of cyber threats in Estonia has increased significantly.

Compared to previous months, this statistics show a clear upward trend in the field of cyber threats. RIA experts emphasise that incidents with consequences are those that have actually affected the information systems of organisations or individuals.

The growth in cyber threats in Estonia reflects a broader trend across Europe, where the frequency and complexity of digital attacks have steadily increased in recent months. As one of the world's most digitally advanced nations, Estonia is therefore particularly vigilant in ensuring cyber security.

RIA recommends that both private and public sector institutions regularly check the security of their systems and implement best cyber protection practices to minimise the potential impact of attacks.
