Rubio: US Sees No Military Solution to Ukraine Conflict
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Wednesday that the United States does not believe a military solution to the Ukraine conflict is possible. He said that peace negotiations are blocked by the reluctance of both parties, especially Russia, to make necessary compromises.
PoliticsUS Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on Wednesday that Washington does not believe a military solution to the Ukraine conflict is possible. According to Rubio, achieving peace through negotiations is currently blocked because both sides — and especially Russia — are not willing to make the necessary compromises.
Rubio emphasised that while the US continues to support diplomatic efforts, the main obstacle to the peace process is Moscow's rigid stance. According to the secretary of state, military pressure alone cannot end the conflict, and in order to achieve a lasting peace, all parties must come to the negotiating table with a willingness to compromise.
The statement comes at a time when the Ukraine conflict has already lasted more than three years and international pressure to reach a ceasefire has grown. In recent months, the US has intensified diplomatic contacts with both Ukraine and European allies, seeking ways to end the conflict through negotiations. Rubio's message suggests that Washington sees a solution based on negotiations as the only realistic path forward, but at the same time acknowledges that the way there is currently blocked by Russian opposition.
