Russian president's advisor at St. Petersburg forum: sanctions will never go away
Maksim Oreshkin, assistant to Russia's president, declared at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum that Russia should not expect Western sanctions to be lifted. According to him, the world will never return to how it was before.
EconomyAt the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Maksim Oreshkin, assistant to Russia's president, made a statement indicating that Moscow has abandoned hope of Western economic restrictions being removed. According to him, Russia must adapt to the new reality rather than wait for the situation to resolve itself.
Oreshkin emphasized that the previous world order has undergone irreversible change. "The world will never return to how it was," he told forum participants, adding that Russia must shape its economic policy accordingly.
This statement is notable because it comes directly from a senior Kremlin representative and suggests that Russia's leadership has internally acknowledged the lasting impact of sanctions. Western countries have imposed a comprehensive sanctions package on Russia following its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
