World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka kicked off her 2025 French Open campaign in Paris on Tuesday with a comfortable first-round victory over Spanish opponent Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, ranked 50th on the WTA Tour, winning 6-4, 6-2.

Sabalenka, the top-ranked women's player in the world, gave away three service breaks during the match but ultimately controlled proceedings on the clay courts of Roland Garros. The Belarusian's power and consistency proved too much for the Spaniard, who struggled to maintain pressure across both sets.

The French Open is the second Grand Slam of the tennis calendar year, and Sabalenka will be among the leading contenders for the title as she continues through the draw in Paris.
