The documentary series "On Patrol," which premiered in June, arrives in Tartu in a new episode where patrol officer Sander Jesin must endure one of his toughest night shifts.

During the episode, it becomes clear that Jesin's night is far from peaceful. Alongside resolving repeated relationship conflicts, he must deal with an incident that tests both his professionalism and emotional resilience-a drunk man drove his best friend nearly to death.

Tears at the scene

At the scene, Jesin's partner could barely hold back tears. "It's very difficult. How do you call parents at four in the morning and tell them their son is in the hospital because of a drunk driver?" he said, struggling with emotions on the spot.

Fortunately, the victim sustained lighter injuries. "This is a serious case of intoxication, but the good thing is that he escaped with lighter injuries," Jesin explained, suggesting that the situation could have ended much more tragically.

The darker side of patrol police work

The series "On Patrol" has drawn attention precisely because it shows the darker aspects of patrol officers' everyday work-night shifts, emotionally difficult cases, and constant pressure. The footage shot in Tartu brings to the screen situations that police officers regularly face, but of which the public is rarely aware.
