Siim Kallas presented the Alver family book in Tallinn
Politician and public official Siim Kallas presented his new book "Torupill ja nuga" on 19 June in Tallinn at Viru Centre's Rahva Raamat bookstore, telling the story of the Alver family from the period of national awakening to the present day. In the author's treatment, a family is a multifaceted phenomenon that encompasses, in addition to blood ties, social, cultural, and historical identity.

The Alvers have left their mark on Estonian history from the days of the national awakening to the present day. Kallas has treated the family widely, and for him, a family is not merely a genetic bond, but above all a social, cultural, and historical phenomenon.
According to the author, belonging to a family requires, in addition to kinship, a conscious identity, an awareness of who one is and where one comes from.
