Study: 60% of people sleep in a T-shirt, what does this reveal about your relationship?
A study involving over 50,000 participants has shown that most people prefer to sleep in regular cotton T-shirts, while only one in five opt for styled sleepwear. According to sleep psychologist Jessica Meers, the choice of sleepwear reflects a person's relationship attitudes and inner world, rather than fashion preferences.
CultureA large-scale new study involving over 50,000 participants has revealed a surprising fact: six out of ten people go to bed in a regular cotton T-shirt. Only 22 per cent prefer special, styled sleepwear.
Sleep psychologist Jessica Meers emphasises that the choice of sleepwear is not merely a fashion question. According to her, it speaks to a person's emotional state, self-esteem and relationship dynamics, how someone feels next to their partner and what signals they are consciously or unconsciously sending.
The study results suggest that comfort is the dominant criterion for most people today when choosing sleepwear. However, there are also those who view dressing for the evening as part of their daily ritual and deliberately invest in their relationship through small gestures of attention.
Experts recommend not overestimating what a partner or partner wears to bed; what matters most is mutual comfort and trust. That said, changing sleepwear can be one way to bring freshness and attentiveness to a relationship.
