The Tallinn Circuit Court has confirmed the earlier ruling by Harju County Court against a 50-year-old man convicted of a violent assault at a bus stop in the Lasnamäe district. The defence's appeal was rejected in full.
EestiThe Tallinn Circuit Court has upheld the sentence handed down by Harju County Court against a 50-year-old man found guilty of brutally attacking a passer-by at a bus stop in Lasnamäe, one of Tallinn's largest residential districts.
The appellate court rejected the defence's appeal in its entirety, confirming that the original verdict and punishment were justified. No grounds were found to reduce or overturn the sentence imposed by the lower court.
The case drew public attention due to the violent nature of the assault, which took place at a public transport stop in broad view of the surrounding area. Lasnamäe is home to a large portion of Tallinn's population, and incidents of street violence in the district frequently spark community concern.
