Tallinn expands bank card ticket purchases to all bus and tram validators

From May 27, passengers in Tallinn's public transport can buy and validate a one-hour ticket using a bank card at any validator on board. Previously, bank card purchases were only possible at the validator located near the front door of the vehicle.

Tallinn has expanded contactless payment options across its public transport network. Starting May 27, commuters on Tallinn buses and trams can purchase and validate a one-hour ticket using a bank card at any onboard validator — not just the one positioned near the front entrance.

Until now, passengers wishing to pay by bank card were required to board through the front door and use only the validator located there. The change removes that restriction, allowing riders to enter through any door and tap their card at whichever validator is closest.

The update is expected to reduce boarding times and ease congestion at front-door validators during peak hours, making the overall travel experience more convenient for Tallinn residents and visitors alike.
