Tallinn restricts vehicle access at city cemeteries

Tallinn City Council has approved new cemetery usage regulations that restrict vehicle movement within cemetery grounds. The changes also give visitors more freedom in designing grave plots.

Tallinn City Council has voted to approve amendments to the rules governing the use of the capital's cemeteries, introducing new restrictions on vehicle movement across cemetery grounds.

The key change aims to ensure that cemeteries remain dignified and safe spaces for visitors. Under the new rules, driving through cemetery territory will no longer be permitted freely — movement by vehicle will be regulated more strictly than before.

Alongside the traffic restrictions, the updated regulations also expand the rights of cemetery users when it comes to designing and decorating grave plots, giving families greater creative freedom in how they maintain the resting places of their loved ones.
