Tanel Padari concert cancelled on Saaremaa due to lack of interest
Arensburg Boutique Hotel & Spa cancelled rock musician Tanel Padari's acoustic concert in Kuressaare because there was insufficient ticket sales. The concert was scheduled for 25 June on the hotel's sun terrace. The cancellation signals that the musician's popularity has suffered following several personal scandals and a prolonged court case.
CultureArensburg Boutique Hotel & Spa, located in Kuressaare on Saaremaa, cancelled rock musician Tanel Padari's (45) acoustic duo concert, which was scheduled for 25 June on the hotel's sun terrace. The reason cited was lack of interest, not enough tickets were sold, and the decision to cancel was made by 17 June.
"The reason Tanel Padari's concert was cancelled was lack of interest. We refunded tickets to everyone immediately once the decision was made," explained Arensburg Boutique Hotel & Spa director Terje Nepper.
Rare performances and confessions
The cancellation coincides with statements from the musician himself. In May, Padari gave a rare candid interview to Sten Teppan on Vikerradio, in which he admitted he currently performs only about once a month. He emphasised that the stage is the most important experience for him.
"Being able to do what I love most and hear people's applause. Playing instruments at home or uploading videos somewhere is just passing time. That's not entertainment for me or anyone else. But the energetic connection that happens on stage cannot be found anywhere else," Padari said in the interview.
Court case concluded
In the background is Padari's lengthy court case with blogger Malluka, also known as Mallu Mariann Treimann-Legrant, which has overshadowed his public image. Last Tuesday, Harju County Court was scheduled to hold a hearing in the matter with witness testimony, but just hours before the hearing was to begin, Padari announced through his lawyers that he was withdrawing the lawsuit.
"When I filed this lawsuit two years ago, I was in a different place in my life than I am today. I wanted to protect my name and reputation and get answers to questions that occupied me at that time. By now I have come to understand that the court cannot provide all the answers that a person sometimes seeks in life," Padari's statement to the press read.
