Teet Margna Refuses to Pay EuroPark Fine: "The Company Acts as an Overreacher"
Estonian public figure Teet Margna has come into conflict with parking company EuroPark after receiving a fine of approximately 30 euros for a parking fee of just 7.50 euros. Margna says he refuses to pay the fine because the company does not account for customer error. The incident gained wider attention after Margna shared the situation on social media.
CultureEstonian public figure Teet Margna (53) has publicly disclosed a dispute with parking company EuroPark on social media, sparking public debate about the fairness of parking fines in Estonia.
According to Margna, he absentmindedly parked his car in an EuroPark car park that was indeed his to use, but it bore a different registration plate than what the parking app automatically suggested. The parking fee came to 7.50 euros, but the attendant failed to identify Margna's mistake and issued a fine of approximately 30 euros.
"I refuse to pay this unjust fine to a company that, in my view, acts as an overreacher and whose business model leaves no room for customer understanding," Margna wrote on social media.
In Margna's assessment, the 30-euro fine is disproportionate, given that it was clearly a simple error and the parking fee was actually paid-just under the wrong registration plate. He believes that the parking company's business model leaves no room for a human approach or customer understanding.
