CultureThe family of European Parliament member Jüri Ratas experienced spring 2025 as a true celebration of graduations, with all three children reaching important educational milestones at the same time.
Eldest daughter Mariell graduated from secondary school at Tallinn Old Town Educational College, son Robin Roger completed primary school at the French Lyceum, and youngest son Holger finished his kindergarten years.
Ratas wrote a heartfelt message on Instagram addressed to his daughter: "Graduating from secondary school is one of life's important and beautiful milestones. Dear daughter, now it's time to move forward boldly, embrace new challenges and discover new opportunities." The politician added that learning never ends and each day offers a new chance to grow and bring dreams to life.
Robin Roger's graduation from the French Lyceum moved Ratas most deeply. "I'm very proud of my middle son," he said with pride. According to the politician, Robin Roger is an ordinary schoolboy who always needed more encouragement to put in effort, but who managed to pull himself together during difficult moments. The boy particularly struggled with his mathematics final exam. Ratas emphasized that he is proud that his son finally understood that schooling is for oneself, not for anyone else. "Without education, the future is very dark," he stressed.
Youngest son Holger finished kindergarten on Tuesday and is already looking forward to starting school with excitement. Jüri wrote on Facebook that they wish Holger a wonderful summer and much joy. "Knowledge is a valuable asset that will always stay with you. Be curious, be brave and be joyful," he added.
Ratas has said that graduations are more important in his eyes than birthdays, because they mark the end of one life period and open the door to the next. "Emotionally, the children's graduations bring moments when previous years flash before your eyes and you feel deep gratitude and pride in your chest," he said.
