SportOn Wednesday, 17 June, the second qualifying round draws for UEFA club competitions were held in Nyon, Switzerland, determining the potential opponents for Estonian clubs should they advance from the first round.
Flora's path against Slovan
FC Flora's opponent in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League is Georgian club Iberia 1999. If Flora can win that tie over two matches, they will face Bratislava Slovan in the second round, Slovakian record champions who have been crowned Slovakian champions 16 times, including the last eight consecutive years.
It is good news for Flora that the first match of the second round would take place at home. The first matches of the Champions League second qualifying round are scheduled for 21 or 22 July, with the return matches on 28 or 29 July.
Should Flora lose to Iberia, the club will continue its European competition season in the Conference League. There they would face the loser of either Azerbaijan's Sabah or Wales' TNS, and in this case too, Flora's first match would be at home.
Levadia, Kalju and Paide
The other Estonian clubs also learned their potential second round opponents in the Conference League qualifying round.
Levadia will face Welsh club Carnarvon Town in the first round. If they win, they will meet Swedish giants IFK Göteborg in the second round. However, Levadia must play the second round's opening match away from home.
Nõmme Kalju's first round opponent is Northern Ireland's Linfield. If successful, they would face Irish Republic club Shelbourne in the next round, with Kalju's opening second round match also away.
Paide Linnameeskond plays Lithuania's Hegelmann in the first round. Paide's second round opponent will be determined by the pairing between Azerbaijan's Zira and Georgia's Torpedo Kutaisi. Paide will also play their first second round match away.
The Conference League second qualifying round opening matches are scheduled for 23 July, with return matches on 30 July.
