Ukraine's drone chief: Crimea to be fully cut off from Russia within a month

The announcement marks a significant milestone in Ukraine's drone warfare campaign targeting supply lines in occupied southern territories.

Brovdi stated that Ukrainian drone strikes have already cut traffic volumes across occupied southern Ukraine by 71 percent. According to the commander, gaining complete control over all road movement in the region will take approximately one more month. If achieved, the blockade would severely limit Russia's ability to resupply and reinforce its forces on the Crimean peninsula.

Drones reshaping southern front

The claim underscores the growing strategic role of unmanned aerial systems in the conflict. Ukraine has increasingly relied on long-range drone campaigns to compensate for shortfalls in conventional artillery ammunition and to strike deep into Russian-held territory without committing ground forces.

Crimea has served as a critical logistical hub for Russian military operations since its annexation in 2014. Cutting off land connections between Crimea and the Russian mainland would place enormous pressure on Moscow's southern command and could significantly alter the balance of the war in Ukraine's favour.

The assessment was shared by Estonian security expert Rainer Saks, who writes for the Parempoolsed party. Saks has consistently followed developments in Ukrainian drone warfare and highlighted Brovdi's statement as a key indicator of Ukraine's evolving military strategy in the south.
