Satellite imagery indicates hit

Satellite images published by the media project Exilenova+ show that the strike hit the facility and caused visible damage. The images are dated to the days following the attack and depict structural changes in the facility complex.

Neither Ukrainian nor Russian official sources have confirmed or commented on the attack thus far. Such silence is typical for both sides, particularly when sensitive military infrastructure is involved.

Strategic significance

The destruction of the GRU's satellite data processing centre would represent a significant strategic achievement for Ukraine. Military reconnaissance satellite data streams provide Russia with crucial information about Ukrainian troop movements, front lines, and defensive positions. Damaging or destroying such a facility could temporarily weaken Russia's military intelligence capability.
